VAN NEWMAN (they/he)
is a Black, queer, transmasculine screenwriter raised on the East Coast and working in Los Angeles, CA.

Their work primarily centers using storytelling as social commentary to explore the complex and critical role technology plays in shaping our individual and collective identities, desires and fears across race, gender, and class.

Van is a 2024 Disruptors Fellow and 2022 Hillman Grad Mentorship Lab Mentee.

They are currently writing their first feature, a trans coming-of-age meets psychological tech thriller with Day Zero Productions.

Half-Hour Romance/Comedy

Logline: 
A modern-day Cupid, cynical himself when it comes to love, struggles to make his quota of love-matches. When he meets his perfect partner-in-matchmaking-crime, they resort to unconventional methods to unite couples in one of the hardest cities to date– New York City.
